The global times is a government owned newspaper in China targeted at western readers.
Years ago I poked around on their discussion forum. There was government criticism. Not to the level we see in the west, but strong enough that it made me confident that while China was still a dictatorship, it was still a somewhat free one.
After all the news about Xi tightening his grip on power, I decided to see how that forum was doing, to see if they'd purged criticism, or if things were still 'free'
However, the forum is gone. Wiped, it seems, a few years back.
Perhaps on the orders of Xi?
